So this was my first full week on before care duty. I've been hanging with these four girls below, and I had a few others on other days, but I asked the girls if I could take photos of them today for my blog.
This is Hannah and Megan, a couple of third and fourth grade campers for Makin Waves this week.
Here's Kirsten and Olyvia, a few 7th graders here for Jr. Zookeeper camp.
Today's lesson theme for our 5 and 6 year olds was the ocean. We discussed what they're called, what animals live there, how they swim, and how they breathe underwater. After lesson, we visited the gibbons, tigers, and lions. The animal presenter was pushed back a half hour, today; so, we headed to feed the goats after snack, and then spent a little time on the playground because the kids were doing such a great job today.
But oh my goodness... heat heat heat heat heat heat. Sweating just walking around out there. haha
As we did half-day checkout at 1:00, had to say goodbye to a really great group of campers. Got a few hugs from some of them as they left and lots of thank you's from the parents.
One fun thing for me this afternoon was as we were hanging out with our full day campers this afternoon, Matt and Nate started looking through my Ecuador scrapbook trying to find me on each page. Samantha also joined us and kept asking where the picture of me with the "tarantula" was... she meant to say "scorpion-spider". haha
After work today, Averee and I got a pizza from Godfather's for supper. Was a pizza kinda night. I also went into Indianola and got my oil changed before I picked up the pizza. I was a little past my due time for an oil change and figured I'd better do it, and I had some time. haha
Then, I started chatting with one of my friends from college - Ryan, on instant message. He's a mass communications major and works with the college radio station. I happened to ask him how that's going and he told me I should click on the link and listen to it. His show runs 5-7pm Monday thru Friday, but he happened to be going a little over tonight, so I caught it and listened in. We continued to instant message as songs would play. His weather report told me it is just as hot in Sioux City as it is here in Des Moines, then not too long before his show ended he whipped out a story about Flamingos at a zoo in Ohio. Hahaha He asked me over instant message if I heard the story, and I sure did. I said "was that your hidden shout out to Bosch tonight?" haha. Sure was. Kind of a fun random little occurrence tonight. He totally just found that article as he was talking to me, and thought I'd enjoy it. haha Here's a link to the article if you're interested:

I told him I'd probably start listening in more. This will give me something to do weeknights after work rather than going to bed so early all the time. hahaha
Since I've tended to post photos of my college friends that I mention chatting with some times here on my blog. Plus, I think photos help make the blog a little more interesting rather than just a bunch of text. Here's one of Ryan and me from last fall:
I also got some quality "reading for fun" time and some instant messaging with my college friend Karena in tonight.
