Today's topic was animals that swim. We discussed flippers and fins, took fun individual photos, and fed the fish before snack. The animal presenter brought the ferret and ball python today.
Then, we walked through the Australian Adventure and did some exercises again. Apparently I'm the exercise expert.
After lunch, we made paper bowl turtles and worked on our activity books.
With our full day campers, we played some games, visited the gibbons and lions, and made some paper plate fans.
Eli, one of our full day campers this week, is one of those kids who can be onrey but I can't help but still really enjoy him. He has that face that reminds me of someone. At one point this afternoon I had to make him hold my hand, so he'd stay with our group. That's one thing where so far this week, the kids haven't been fighting over who gets to hold our hands.
Fun story from today... I saw Chad, the animal curator, and he said that it was cool that my professor was here Saturday. (Remember, Dr. H and I saw chad when we were touring the zoo.) Sure was. He also said that I must have made a good impression in order for him to come down here and that takes a pretty good professor to come do something like that. Yep, I said Dr. H is pretty awesome. How cool is it that I was standing there chatting with the animal curator of the zoo about my professor coming to visit. haha
So tonight as Averee and I were sitting in our room tonight, I was listening to my friend's radio show again.... He's talking about the bald eagle story again from yesterday, and then Averee says "I think I remember trying to give chest compressions to a robin when I was like 8 years old." I mention that to Ryan in an instant message, and he wanted her to call in and talk about it. haha Well after a while, I did some random searching and read that in Oregon that paramedics and firefighters are trained in first aid and CPR for cats, dogs, ferrets, and gerbils. So, I figured Ryan wants another add in to this story, so I called in and told him bout it. So he put me on the air, and we talked about it. I mentioned how my roommate had a story; so, she got on and talked about it. Hahaha wow. Who would have thought I would have learned all this? Sure hope you're all enjoying. :-)
